rv power center

This RV power control center combines an AC/DC panel with a smart converter charger. Creating easy access to your electrical connections, this all-in-one breaker box distributes AC and DC loads to your RV and charges your batteries while connected to shore power. The integrated converter charger also uses the Charge Wizard to help extend battery life.

AC/DC Electrical Distribution

internal view

The panel supplies AC and DC distribution to your RV's electrical system. The AC section has space for 2 breakers rated for 120V at 30 amps. This lets you have up to 4 branch circuits when you use tandem breakers. The DC section has 6 branch fuse holders capable of using (1) 40 amp and (6) 30 amp fuses. However, you will need to purchase AC breakers and DC fuses separately to complete the installation.

inside cover

Once all of your connections are made, the breakers and fuses are easily accessible by opening the door on the front of the box. The door also includes a blank label to list all of the connections.

Multifunctional Converter Charger

The integrated converter charger changes AC shore power into DC power to charge your battery bank. It includes an output mode switch that lets you choose either lithium or lead acid batteries. No matter what type of battery is installed in your RV, you'll always have the most efficient charging profile. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.

Charging Profile Designed for Lithium Batteries

In lithium mode, the unit uses a higher output voltage, which provides a fast, complete charge. It also extends battery life since it utilizes the appropriate charging profile. Additionally, this mode is compatible with your battery's internal Battery Management System (BMS), which helps manage the charge cycle by monitoring the battery state and balancing cell voltage.

Charge Wizard for Lead Acid Batteries

In lead acid mode, the Charge Wizard automatically switches voltages while your lead acid battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. This function is compatible with flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries.

Charging Modes

  1. Boost: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. This is where most of the charging happens. It charges the battery up to 90% of the full capacity.
  2. Normal: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery begins to reach capacity, the normal state will kick in and reduce the voltage to safely complete the charge.
  3. Storage: Once the battery reaches full charge and remains unused for 30 hours, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization: This mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended storage cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

Safety Features

internal view

The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent, which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature of the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly.

I installed this in my camp with 400 watts of solar an a LFP04 battery with a generator hookup. I use the lithium charge profile and it works great. It runs my 12v rv refrigerator with no issue.

by:

Very concerned about this. Unit arrived via USPS in an unmarked cardboard box with zero packing. There was at least of clearance on sides which means it was banging around in the box the whole trip. Looks like a return. No hardware, or screws included. It wasn't even in a bag and "manual" is a corner-stapled 8.5x11 photocopy.

I wasn't planning on installing this right away, and now I'm thinking about returning because I don't want to have problems down the line due to unseen damage or broken solder joints. Very sketchy.

I think I would feel the exact same! In my book, you spend brand new money so you should receive something in brand new condition. I checked with customer service, and they are going to help you make a return. Thanks for letting us know!

Works great and is lithium capable . Far better charging of my house batteries than the wfco that came with my trailer

It’s been a year since I installed it and it’s still working great

by:

Bought this distribution panel for an enclosed trailer build and it has been perfect! I coupled this with a 100aH lithium battery and Renogy lithium battery monitor; the built in lithium charging support has been a great option. After figuring out all of my wiring it was a very simple install and the blown fuse indicators are great for quick trouble shooting.

by:

So far converter has been reliable with no issues. Purchased originally after converting to lithium batteries in which the old converter didn't support. Took me three hours to remove the old and install the new. I'm happy with my purchase.

by:

Game-changer for our lifepo4 batteries! I swapped out the PD 4135K for the WFCO 8735P that came standard in our trailer. Installation was fairly easy, just had to glue and screw a 1/2" square dowel in one side of the cutout to make the opening smaller. Wiring was simple. We only charge throu the converter when we don't have enough solar, and it's nice to know we're maximizing the charging from our generator. The lithium switch is really small and a little hard to access, but I shouldn't need to get to it again unless we switch back to AGM, which isn't going to happen. Happy we made the change!

by:

This is working well for us in our diy camper! We had to use [online] to figure out how to hook it up.

Still working well!

by:

Only downside to the unit is the installation documentation. It’s not as clearly explained to the first time DIY installer. Had to resort to YouTube videos to complete installation. It would be nice to have a step by step tutorial video made by PD or eTrailer for installation purposes. Otherwise, unit is working great and as intended.

by:

I installed the power control AC/DC panel with converter in my son's 2000 travel trailer. Due to my own lack of experience I went slow and checked/rechecked many times so it took me a few hours but it has now been 3 months and it has performed flawlessly. It is great to have the A/C working and battery charging. I would have liked greater details for installation instructions but I'm sure they would be adequate for anyone with experience. For newbies, go slow and use your meter frequently.

My son reports no problems with the ACDC panel that I installed last year, very pleased.

by:

The item I ordered was perfect for my trailer setup. 1 unit housing distribution panel and converter. Installation was very easy, however, instructions for wiring could be better. I used a Google video to verify wiring. Haven't used the item yet but I suspect it will be great for my trailer.

by:

Works better than expected. It was a nice upgrade to my 1988 Toyota Odyssey Motorhome. The original one had failed. The new one is much better as I don't need worry about overcharging and drying out the battery.Installation was easy too with the instructions.

by:

Great converter charger Thank you so mu ch

by:

I installed this, replacing a previous model that didn't have the LiPo option. It went in easily and did a great job charging the new LiPo battery I purchased.

After a year of use in our Travel Trailer, Ive been very pleased with its ability to handle our SOK LiPo batterys charging needs. Its fast and works great from land power or from our Predator 3500 Invertergenerator. I definitely recommend it.

by:

replaced my original converter on TAB camper with Progressive Dynamics model so that it would properly charge a lithium battery replacement. After 1 year is working fine. Fan can be a little noisy but similar to original converter.

by:

I had my son-in-law who is an electrician install the converter. The converter is working good and the battery charge was really good. I believe that the water pump pressure was the best I had in a long time which indicates how well the battery is charged.

The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think that a better manual could of come with the converter. When I connected the battery there was a green flashing light that I didn't know what it meant but after an internet search I found out what it meant.
E-trailer was great to deal with, fast service and answered my questions quickly,

Raymond

The converter and charger is working very well and I like how I dont have to watch how well the battery is charged

by:

There is obviously a manufacturing issue with the circuit board of the PD4135 converter charger. When I received the first one that I had ordered, I went to switch the converter to lithium battery operation, and noticed that the bottom pin of switch S1 was not soldered to the circuit board pad. E-trailer promptly sent me a replacement converter which I received today. The first thing I did was to check the solder on switch S1. The picture shows the switch in the condition received (exact same issue). I will be looking at a different solution for my converter/charger needs.

Super fast shipping and customer service was great in answering my pre-purchase questions. Haven't installed it yet, but seems like it will be very easy. Good instructions.

by:

It is functioning well and providing the distribution of 12 volt to lights and usb as detailed. It took me a while to install it, as I had many other things to finish in my "bare bones"van, before I got around to installing it. I haven't had an opportunity to test the AC input as yet, but I am confident it will function well in that capacity too. I appreciate you staff's rapid reply, when I had a technical question. Thank you.

by:

I bought this converter to upgrade my basic unit installed in the RV from the factory. It was relatively easy to install given you have some basic electrical knowledge. It will help in the longevity of my battery as it will trickle charge when battery is at full charge and gives me the ability to convert to lithium batteries in the future. All in all I'm very happy with the performance of this convertor.

by:

It works great I use it to charge 400ah of lithium batteries almost daily in my Travato 59k very reliable no problems at all. The installation was very easy. The only thing I would change is I would have bought the 60amp version instead of the 40amp version since the batteries I bought have a 150amp BMS and could easily handle the extra 20 amps but at the time I didn’t know that. Great product and e trailer is a great company with great customer support and very knowledgeable staff 100% satisfied!

by:

Because the World Friends converter in our little Guy Mini Max was beginning to fail, I ordered a PD 4135; Quinn very helpfully took my order. Unfortunately, the new converter had no 12VDC output. Kailey promptly made arrangements for a warranty replacement. When I had trouble downloading the UPS return shipping label, Jamie guided the necessary process. I know problems sometimes occur with anything that is purchased, but etrailer has met and overcome the challenges. The new PD 4135 is working very well. Thank you, etrailer.

Working great after a year. Keeping our 235 AH AGM battery full. PD is yops.

by:

Based on other reviews, I received this product about as expected. Shipping took a very long time, this took 9 days to arrive after notification of shipping. The product was not packed very well, it does not have any visible damage from shipping though, which was a concern considering how the box looked. There are no instructions with the product. As expected, the lithium/AGM switch has a damaged solder joint.
Over-all if there was another similar product from any other vendor available, I would have bought something else. At this time I'm not aware of anything else in stock, so this will do and I will make the needed repairs to make it work. It will be replacing the current control panel in our camper so we are able to charge LiFePO batteries.

So far so good! I build my own power center modeled after the ones in RV for our enclosed trailer. Its been working great. I bought fuses at the auto parts store, and bought circuit breakers at home depot no problem. I did contact progressive dynamics because it seems that there are places you can buy these cheap but the serial number is not recognized by progressive dynamics meaning you have no warranty and probably cant return it to those places. But since etrailer was not listed on progressive dynamics website as a retailer, I contacted them, gave them my serial number, and they confirmed that etrialer is a preferred dealer, and my serial number is legit....
I contacted progressive dynamics also during installation, and they were very helpful. I was concerned the the wire coming out of the unit that hooks up to your 12 v batteries was 12AWG. I though that seemed too light a gauge, and should be at least 10AWG maybe 8AWG. Progressive dynamics, technical guy said that they have a special high temp insulation on those wires and they can indeed handle 40 AMPS. He recommended (which looks odd installed) but I ran 8AWG from my battery, and spliced it to the 12AWG wire on progressive dynamics unit.
No Complaints so far, its been running great and charging the batteries. No regrets.

by:

Needed to replace the converter in my 30 year old pop-up camper. The old one no longer worked on 12 volts. This unit was about the right size and had the features to match what was in the camper. After a little modification to the opening, the new converter went right in. The installation was quite simple and has worked great. There have been no issues with the unit. There was enough capacity to add some additional accessories to the camper like new lighting, USB charging and AC outlet. Great converter.

by:

Since I just finished installing this converter late today, I don't have any operational history on which to rate it, thus the Average rating. I do have a couple comments about the product itself.

1.I believe the PD4135K would be ideal for a small travel trailer or a van conversion with few powered features. In my case I have a fully loaded 2002 Roadtrek 190. The OEM supplied documentation listed an Elixer 4500 Converter, however that was substituted or later replaced with a Centurion 3000 Converter which was no longer keeping the RV battery charged. The Centurion unit had 9 usable fused 12VDC circuits while the PD4135K has 7 total and 6 usable for distribution. Compounding this issue was the fact that the Centurion unit had three fused circuits with two separate and different loads connected - a definite No-No for safety's sake. The solution was to install an Auxiliary Fuse Block and feed it from F2 on the PD4135K. The pig tailed leads on the PD4135K were a definite asset in this type of installation.

2. My installation required the use of all three dual 120VAC Breakers (6 circuits) which leaves very little room for wiring within that small compartment. While difficult, it can be done, though I suspect doing so pushes the NEC to the limit.

I'll make two suggestions for anyone contemplating such a project. First, consider carefully the number of circuits(both 120 VAC and 12VDC)you need to accommodate without doubling up. It may be worthwhile to purchase a higher amperage rated converter to get the needed circuits and additional room for wiring. Second, mark every wire with a unique number before disconnecting it and record that number along with the circuit's function and fuse rating. Wire markers are available at your local [online]. As well, white adhesive tape and a black marking pen works fine. Doing this may save you time and later frustration.
